Javon Baker Joins KRWA Staff

The Kansas Rural Water Association is pleased to announce the employment of Javon Baker, beginning August 15. Javon will assist drinking water systems in south-central Kansas and elsewhere as needed. 


Javon brings a wide range of experience to KRWA; he has been working in the public water supply sector for ten years. Most recently, Javon was employed by the city of Valley Center, starting in January 2019, as their Chief Water Operator. Javon Baker Joins KRWA StaffHe was later promoted to Utilities Operator. Prior to his employment with Valley Center, he was employed by the cities of Goddard and Haysville in public works and water operator positions and for a year, as Code Enforcement Officer at Haysville. At Valley Center, Javon was the lead water technician providing daily operation and maintenance of the city's drinking water distribution system and all involved stations, equipment, vehicles, and other assets. He has extensive experience with liquid and gas chlorination systems. During his career, he has repaired and maintained pumps, buildings, vehicles and equipment and all distribution system components. He also supervised and trained public works personnel in water-related responsibilities and practices in order to prepare candidates for water operator certification exams. 


Javon holds a Class IV water operator certification from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. He also has a Class B Commercial Driver’s License and is certified in Confined Space Entry and Trenching and Excavation Competent Person and Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention.


Javon is a graduate of Wichita High School East and was a member of the National Honor Society. He and his wife live in Wichita.
