Since 1992, the Kansas Water Office has contracted with the Kansas Rural Water Association to fund a technical assistance program to public water system.  The funding is a benefit of the Clean Drinking Water Fee. In FY23, the contract provided assistance to 177 cities and 93 rural water systems, public wholesale systems or other water systems. The Association conducted 148 water loss surveys in 98 different water systems (cities and RWDs), locating more than 360 million gallons of loss on an annual basis.
